The Duke of Wellington is a vibrant and friendly local for anyone lucky enough to live nearby. With a quality line-up of live ales and real music, the pub is also a destination for music and beer lovers travelling from further afield.

With hundreds of new micro- breweries springing up across the country, (40 odd breweries in Sussex alone), our cellar turns over some legendary brews from the likes of Dark Star, Burning Sky, Tiny Rebel, Magic Rock & Siren – to name a few.  As an independently owned pub we can hand-pick the finest, frequently getting our hands on exceptional one-off specials and hybrid brewery collaborations.sunny afternoons

The British tradition of producing naturally carbonated ‘living’ ales goes hand in hand with keeping and serving ales in peak condition direct from a cool cellar, as they should be. Our commitment to quality control extends also to our range of keg beers, steering away from mainstream brands we pay compliment to some choice continental and local beers.

As our old friend Brodie used to say, The Welly is truly a ‘sweetie shop’ for beer lovers, so take a look at the beer menu to see our ever changing range of beers on keg, as well as our fine selection of bottles and cans in the fridge.  If you wish to keep up to date with what sweeties we have in store, then find us on the Untappd app.

The Duke has earnt a reputation as a superb music venue, showing live music since the early 80’s. And what more could go better with fine beer, than fine music? We have a fabulous selection of local musicians that play regularly, as well as talent coming for from further afield – making for a eclectic selection, with something for everyone.

There’s music on every Friday and Saturday from 8pm, Sunday from 4pm in Winter and 5pm in Summer. Nearly all the entertainment is free to enjoy, although a tips boot is sent ‘round for anyone wishing to show their appreciation to the band.
Please check the events page on this site for full listings of events, you can also find us on Facebook for regular updates.

Although we cannot offer space for private functions, we are more than happy to accomodate parties – with ample notice it may even be possible to book your favourite local band for the evening. We also allow and have space for parties to bring along their own food, although, in a public space with a bunch drinkers, it’s impossible to guarantee that the regulars won’t have a nibble.
